Train - Christmas tree chain

A locomotive and three carriages, all hand-painted. Children could find a train chain on their Christmas tree as early as the 1930s, and children today hang it on their Christmas tree with the same enthusiasm. The chain is 30 cm long.

The production of glass bead ornaments is a traditional craft of the Czech Republic. The chain was handmade in Poniklá in the Krkonoše Mountains. The glass beads are silver-plated on the inside with real silver.

Bead ornaments have been handmade in the Krkonoše Mountains for over a hundred years. Before a bead, blown from a glass tube, reaches the finished ornament, it must pass through at least five pairs of skilled hands. The bead craft has a deep tradition in Poniklá and has been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2020.
