Miracle - Star of Bethlehem

The Miracle collection was designed for Rautis by designer Tereza Drobná. Sky blue, pure silver and earthy grey are the colours of the Miracle collection, the heart of which is the Holy Family, complemented by the heralds of the Christmas miracle – the Star of Bethlehem and the Archangel Gabriel. The shape of the figures is reduced to a minimum to highlight the contrast between the raw mineral and the precisely shaped glass beads. The ball chain recalls the complexity of bead production and reconnects them with the world of costume jewelry. This collection pays homage to the unique history of traditional craftsmanship, moves it into contemporary design, and once again turns ornaments into jewelry – this time for the Christmas tree.

The production of glass bead ornaments is a traditional craft of the Czech Republic. The star was handmade in Poniklá in the Krkonoše Mountains. The glass beads are silver-plated on the inside with real silver.

Bead ornaments have been handmade in the Krkonoše Mountains for over a hundred years. Before a bead, blown from a glass tube, reaches the finished ornament, it must pass through at least five pairs of skilled hands. The bead craft has a deep tradition in Poniklá and has been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2020.
