Christmas ornament Teapot

Some of the first beaded ornaments were miniatures of objects that people saw around them, for example in their homes. This resulted in not only beaded teapots, but also graters or coffee grinders.

The production of glass bead ornaments is a traditional craft of the Czech Republic. The ornament was handmade in Poniklá in the Krkonoše Mountains. The glass beads are silver-plated on the inside with real silver.

Bead ornaments have been handmade in the Krkonoše Mountains for over a hundred years. Before a bead, blown from a glass tube, reaches the finished ornament, it must pass through at least five pairs of skilled hands. The bead craft has a deep tradition in Poniklá and has been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2020.
