Christmas ornament Cancer

Crayfish used to be a part of Christmas as a Lenten food, which is perhaps why it has been a motif in decorations since the first third of the 20th century. This one is a real eye-catcher and will be a sight to behold on the tree.

The production of glass bead ornaments is a traditional craft of the Czech Republic. The ornament was handmade in Poniklá in the Krkonoše Mountains. The glass beads are silver-plated on the inside with real silver.

Bead ornaments have been handmade in the Krkonoše Mountains for over a hundred years. Before a bead, blown from a glass tube, reaches the finished ornament, it must pass through at least five pairs of skilled hands. The bead craft has a deep tradition in Poniklá and has been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2020.
